Sutton's Title Number: Why 38 Points at Silverstone Could Be Enough

Where the Title Race Stands

Ashley Sutton arrives at Silverstone this weekend with a 424-point tally and a 115-point cushion over his nearest challenger. Two rounds remain on the 2026 calendar: Silverstone (26-27 September) and the Brands Hatch GP finale (10-11 October).

  • 1st Ashley Sutton - 424 points, 8 wins
  • 2nd Dan Cammish - 309 points, 2 wins
  • 3rd Tom Ingram - 301 points, 2 wins
  • 4th Ricky Collard - 234 points
  • 5th Adam Morgan - 232 points
  • 6th Daniel Rowbottom - 232 points
  • 7th Josh Cook - 227 points

The Ceiling on What's Left

Under the 2026 Sporting Regulations each round pays out a maximum of 76 points to one driver: 10 for winning Saturday's Qualifying Race plus up to 22 in each of Sunday's three points races (20 for the win plus 1 for fastest lap plus 1 for being classified as race leader). That puts 152 points still on the table for the rest of the season.

Measured against that ceiling, most of the chasing pack are already out of contention on paper. Collard, Morgan, Rowbottom and Cook would all fall short of Sutton's current total even with a maximum haul from both remaining rounds. Only Cammish and Ingram still have a mathematical route to the title.

The Number That Matters: 38

Sutton needs just 38 points across Saturday's Qualifying Race and Sunday's three races at Silverstone to be crowned champion this weekend with the Brands Hatch GP finale still to come. That number comes from the tightest gap in the table, the 115 points separating him from Cammish, checked against the 76-point maximum still available at the final round.

Thirty-eight points is a modest ask by Sutton's own standards this year. A single race win is worth 20 to 22 points on its own. Sutton has already won 8 of the 24 points races run so far in 2026.

What Keeps It Alive

For the fight to reach Brands Hatch, Cammish would need to outscore Sutton by at least 39 points across the whole Silverstone weekend. That is mathematically possible but would need something close to a disastrous weekend for Sutton paired with a near-maximum haul from Cammish.

If that does happen, the finale becomes a straight shootout: whoever holds the most points after Race 3 at Brands Hatch on 11 October takes the title.

The Tiebreak Nobody Expects to Need

Even in the outside chance of a dead-level points finish, the regulations settle it by countback: most race wins first, then most second places. Sutton's 8 wins against 2 apiece for Cammish and Ingram make that a formality too.
