Daniel Lloyd made his BTCC debut in 2010 with a one-off outing for Uniq Racing with Triple Eight at his home round, Croft, in the team's Vauxhall Vectra after the squad's title sponsor withdrew mid-season.
He returned to the grid full-time in 2016 with Eurotech Racing in a Honda Civic Type R, before partnering Árón Taylor-Smith at MG RCIB Insurance Racing in an MG6 GT for 2017. Staying with the Civic Type R for 2018, this time for BTC Norlin Racing, Lloyd took his maiden BTCC win at Croft.
After time away from the championship, Lloyd returned in 2021 with Adrian Flux with Power Maxed Racing in a Vauxhall Astra, before his best season yet in 2022 with Bristol Street Motors with Excelr8 TradePriceCars.com, taking three wins in the Hyundai i30 Fastback N to finish 10th in the championship. He moved to Autobrite Direct with Millers Oils for 2023, racing a Cupra León.
Lloyd stepped away from driving again in 2024, before returning for 2025 with Restart Racing in the Hyundai i30 Fastback N, where a season-long battle with teammate Chris Smiley saw him take the Independent Drivers' honours.
Lloyd stepped back from the 2026 season at the start of the year to focus on his coaching commitments, staying on with Restart Racing in an advisory role. He returns to the cockpit for the final four rounds of 2026, taking over from James Dorlin at Restart Racing.
